Matt Preston identifies as disabled and immunocompromised since developing Long Covid immediately after his Sept 2022 covid infection. After 12 months of severe ME/CFS like symptoms and being homebound, he has been living on his own in Hudson Valley, NY. The first 18 months of being sick cleared about $70,000 of his savings, as he did not have disability insurance as a full time contractor in 2022 when he got sick. Much of 2024 was spent trying to get back to work. After 24 months, he is finally making about 60% of his normal salary but still paying his own health insurance. He hopes to go full time with a new job, but any new infection or overdoing it could set his plans backward. Support of his creations helps create a safety net for the future of unpredictability that comes with currently being disabled in America

Without his long covid knowledge, his parents support, his long covid doctor, savings and medicine that worked, he would still be housebound.
